Animation historian, educator, Oscar winning filmmaker. Canemaker's tomes on Windsor McCay and Felix The Cat, his numerous books on Disney history (The Nine Old Men, Mary Blair, etc.) are essential references. Canemaker is Chair of NYU's Animation Program and won an Academy Award for his animated short The Moon And The Son: An Imagined Conversation. - Glen Keane
One of the leading lights in the current generation of Disney character animators, Keane's artistry has been the bedrock of many classic animated features since 1977. Most notably, Keane was lead animator of Ariel in The Little Mermaid, The Beast in Beauty and The Beast, and animated the characters Aladdin, Tarzan, Pocahontas in their respective Disney films. Aside from Disney he's worked on animated films of Star Trek and Alvin and the Chipmunks. - John Kricfalusi
Notorious animator Kricfalusi created the influential Ren & Stimpy Show in 1991. He restored an individual look to TV animation, pushing the envelope during the "creator-driven" movement of the 1990s. He also pioneered the use of artist-driven Flash animation. His animated films and design style currently influences a new generation of cartoonists, with which he communicates personally to through his blog.

Ho citato anche questi ultimi due premi speciali dati a dei software, poiché premi del genere sono un enorme riconoscimento. Insomma, Flash non è più l'animazione dei poveri. E Linux, vabè...
Tornando al cinema...
Ratatouille ovviamente la fa da padrone, con 13 nomination, fra cui tutte le più importanti (Miglior film, regia, sceneggiatura, scenografia, effetti, colonna sonora, doppiaggi, ecc...). A ruota lo segue l'inaspettato successo di un altro film in CGI, quello della Sony Surf's up - I re delle onde. Clamorosamente, ma anche no, Shrek Terzo manca la cinquina dei migliori film, ma non quella dei migliori registi. E fra i migliori registi, televisivi però, c'è anche Gary Trousdale con il suo episodio natalizio di Shrek, Shrek the Halls (che una nomination la ha anche fra i doppiatori, con Eddie Murphy). La Dreamworks conclude la sua presenza con Bee Movie (che è fra i migliori film, e poche altre categorie). Il temuto Persepolis raccatta ben quattro (importantissime) nomination: miglior film, miglior regia, miglior sceneggiatura e miglior colonna sonora.
Per i cortometraggi, la Disney si riscatta con ben tre nomination nella categoria principale: il nuovo corto di Pippo, il corto presente nel dvd di Ratataouille Your friend the Rat, e un episodio di una serie tv di Disney Channel. Dico "si riscatta" perché l'anno scorso quel bellissimo cortometraggio che era La piccola fiammiferaia agli Annie non ottenne nemmeno la nomination. Inoltre il corto di Pippo How to hook up your home theatre ha anche una seconda nomination, per gli effetti animati (dove gareggia con Ratatouille, Spider-Man 3 e Surf's up). Da segnalare poi per la Disney l'ennesima nomination per Kim Possible fra le migliori serie animate, e anche le due nomination per il film più denigrato dell'anno, I Robinson (colonna sonora e storyboarding).
I Simpson raccolgono anch'essi nomination nelle categorie più importanti (miglior film, regia, sceneggiatura e doppiaggio), e anche due importanti nomination per due episodi della serie tv (colonna sonora e sceneggiatura), per non parlare del cugino Futurama anch'esso con una nomination per il nuovo film DTV di Bender (in una categoria con poca competizione, quest'anno: solo due nominati...)
Nella categoria dello storyboarding fralaltro agguanta una nomination anche TNMT.
